Rae Griffiths’ work with animals spans almost 20 years, beginning with her first job as a veterinary assistant. As a zoology student at Hampshire College, she studied humpback whale behavior, and began teaching science to children through special “Days in the Lab.”

Since then, Rae has had the privilege of working as a wildlife care assistant for the Massachusetts Audubon Society, serving as a zookeeper in the African Tropical Forest at the Franklin Park Zoo, and releasing bald eagles for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

As an educator, Rae taught for the Boston Museum of Science's Camp-In Program for over six years, and presented animal programs for the Drumlin Farm Education Center and Wildlife Sanctuary in Lincoln, Massachusetts. In addition, she designed a sea turtle family activity kit for the New England Aquarium's Activity Center.

In June of 2000, she completed a graduate program focused on museum education at Harvard University Extension School, and welcomed the birth of her son. She began Teaching Creatures in 2003.
